I Don't like that at all.  Forget it.  Really, no Mom.  I am not going to do it.  No. 

 

I still see the spoon.  Are you not getting it?  Well, I am just going to ignore you now Mom.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to a cute little on your honor pumpkin patch close by our house this week.  It's funny, the boys all wanted a green pumpkin (I think because of something to do with minecraft?) and this place had tons of green ones. 

 

Dallin found one! 

One of the nice things about having a boy, is how convenient emergency potty needs are dealt with.  So easy! 

 

 

Brian found one with lots of goiters, like he wanted.  :) 

 

Next week, we can start carving. 

Escape Artist

Brian and I think we are in for it with Miss Julia.  She is super determined.  The look in her eyes when she wants something is intense.  She is quiet about it, but persistent. 

I put her in her bouncer a couple of days ago and went upstairs.  A few minutes later I came down and found her on the floor, totally happy and interested in the non baby proof items suddenly within her reach.  I freaked out, assuming one of the boys let her out.  Quickly realizing that was not the case, I realized she managed to get herself out.  But the latch was still buckled.  Hmm.

When I put her back in her bouncer, I saw her begin to lean forward as far as possible.  I realized that she could easily slip right out the top.  She had discovered freedom and was anxious to repeat her amazing feat. 

She can no longer be trusted in her bouncer or her swing.  Dangit!  And since she rolls so easily, I cannot just put her on the floor on a blanket.  So unless I am holding her, it is just her playpen and excersaucer that are safe.  At least she is happy in those, for now. 

Yep, she is going to be a busy kid.  :)

Apple Butter

Apple sauce and apple butter.  My house sure smelled good for a couple of days! 

Sunday at the Schwab's

 

Dallin fell asleep.  Most days he doesn't nap unless he is really sad, then I will put him down.  But he doesn't usually just fall asleep on his own like this.  I love sleeping kids.  Julia fell asleep on Brian.  She is a spoiled girl! 

 

 

And Brian made dinner.  He smoked these ribs then wrapped them and put them in the crock pot.  I am so lucky!  He is a great cook. 

 

ps we did have veggies with this.  They just weren't done by the time I took the picture.  And we had green smoothies for dessert.  So it is not all carbs and fatty meats here.  :)

 

5 months

Julia turned 5 months old yesterday.  Her first tooth came in last Friday and it looks as if another is on it's way so she has been pretty sad.  Happy face pictures have been a little hard to get.  But we did get a few. 

 

We sure love this little baby girl :)

Remodel

It is time.  Time for a project that Brian and I have both been dreading.  Repainting kitchen cabinets. 
We both knew this would be super time consuming, and it definitely has been. 
Before:

Look at this mess!  I thankfully cleaned the house before this project which left room in the dining room to put everything.  It was also nice when we went upstairs to see a clean bedroom with the bed made.  That actually helped a lot. 

 

 

 We sanded, and sanded and sanded. 

Then we put on primer. 

And sanded again.   

 

This was the best part.  Right when it felt pretty hopeless, Brian put this beadboard up and I got a glimpse of how good it was going to be when it as all done.  

  Wow!  It wasn't even painted yet and I was already happy.

 

Something that really helped was putting up this plastic film.  I taped it to the ceiling and walls to contain the dust and paint fumes.  We put a fan in the kitchen window blowing out to create "negative pressure."  It worked amazing.  The rest of the house stayed dust free.  When you walked on the other side of the film, you couldn't even smell the paint either.  I was super happy about that since baby Julia is here.  I was worried I would have to be out of the house with her and the kids when this was going on.  But since this worked so well, I stuck around and helped when she would nap.  

 

Boxes primed:

I didn't want to do fast food so we kept our meals pretty simple.  Mostly cereal, crackers, apples and sandwiches.  One night I bought a rotisserie chicken and French bread.  We all picnicked outside with paper plates.  It was doable. We made painting the boxes the priority so that it would dry first.  Then I was able to move our stuff back into the kitchen. 

And here is where we are now.  Doors are not done.  We did put one up above the microwave just to get an idea, and I LOVE IT!  :)  Notice the new crown molding above the fridge.  Brian is so handy!  And the island it my favorite part. 

 

Next week, we should have the doors and drawer fronts finished and we will pick out some hardware.  Can't wait! 

 

We are in this project 4 full days so far.  Really one more and we should be done.  Then, on to repainting trim, all the downstairs walls, putting in new floor and new baseboard.  Lots of work, but it will be worth it. 

Soccer

And soccer is here once more!  I love it!

Blake loves being goalie.  Happy kid!

And then it started pouring!   And he still loved it.  During the break I offered him the dry part of the blanket that I was sitting on and went to hold the umbrella over him.  He said no thanks and grabbed his teammate to practice more. 

 

It is totally the highlight of my week, even in the rain :)

Frankles

Blake told me about another little boy in his class that was wearing the same shirt as him on picture day.  The little boy, Hank, also has blue eyes and blond hair.  Blake said, he also has "Frankles" like me.
