March 4 2011

The happy picture of the day is that Brian and I had a date night. We saw the movie True Grit. I am still trying to decide if I liked the movie, but going out with just Brian was happiness enough.

Happy in March

I have been challenged by Heather. The challenge? Post a picture of one thing that makes me happy every day in March.
Here is for March 1st:

Those are tulips in my yard. Despite all the snow and cold, spring is on it's way. I will have my backyard once again.

For March 2nd:

Kyle's baby smile. This little smile won't ever be the same. You can't tell very easily in this picture, but he is missing his bottom tooth. 2 more are loose so his baby smile is fading fast! I am excited that he is growing up but also a little sad to see another milestone. They are coming quick now.

And for today:

I had a card party with some ladies from the neighborhood. (Thanks for letting me borrow the cricut Sue!) Fun craft with great company. It was nice. Unfortunately the baby decided to get sick in the middle of it all, but what can you do? It was still a fun get together.

I have been meaning to get some spray bottles and fill them with food coloring. That way I could get the boys to play outside in the winter and make a dent in the amount of time spent playing video games. So after a few weeks of not remembering to get the bottles and a few more weeks of not remembering to buy food coloring, I finally got organized. Then it proceeded to not snow for over 1 month. Finally, we got some snow again and outside the boys went.

The blue coloring worked the best. You have to use a lot of color to get it to work.

Blue snowman.

Our neighbor boy Krue came and played with us. It's always more fun with friends!

Brian put a face on the snowman. Funny looking!

Big snowman. But as fun as this was, I am over the snow and ready for warm weather. I miss the sun, and strawberries, the pool, long bright evenings and waking up to sun in my room instead of pitch black. Only a few more months....

Sick Again

Dallin has a terrible cold. It is so heartbreaking. When I am not holding him, he just follows me around, whimpering. The cold itself makes him feel miserable but he has an ear infection on top of it. No fun.
I was looking through some cute pictures of him and was missing his little smile because I haven't seen it in a while.

In a few days, I will see this smiley face again. For now, he is all whimpers and tears. Poor guy.

4th Birthday

Blake got a paper airplane making kit for his birthday. So he and Brian have been making them and testing them out.

This was a particularly fun present because Blake has been loving airplanes. We live due south of the airport. Far enough away that planes flying overhead aren't bothersome, but close enough that the boys notice them and really enjoy seeing them. They pretend there are good guy planes, and bad guy ones. Some apparently even have rockets and bombs. Boys have such fun imaginations. I don't think I was ever that creative.

I had to add this one more picture of Blake from his bday party. We were singing to him here, look how shy he got all of a sudden! Cute.

Blake is 4

My sweet little Blakers is getting so big! Four years already.

He is my precious little boy, wonderful, happy and affectionate.

What a handsome little guy. And how lucky I am to have him! Happy birthday Blake!

Aquarium

Blake's birthday is coming, so we headed down to the aquarium. It's been a year since we last went, so the boys remembered it but were definately not bored by it.

Getting a good picture there is challenging because it is dark in there and most of the time they have their backs to me. So you can't see many faces.

Since we last went, they added penguins which were really fun. And their seahorses have been expanded. Look how cute the little baby ones are! They are probably my favorite.

Brian was able to come along. I don't think I would have attempted this without help. The boys like to run a little and of course I had Dallin to watch.

Best of all for me, we stopped at the new In-N-Out and ate. So good. That alone was worth the drive. Anyway, we had a really good time.

Alike

Here is a picture of Kyle and Blake, 3 and a half years ago, July 2007.

And here is just yesterday, with Blake and Dallin.

Or better yet, all three of them.

New Year

This is a late post, but here it is.

I took my sister's idea of counting down the new year at 12 noon instead of midnight. There was no way I was going to allow the boys to be up that late. So we made party hats, got some noise makers and counted down. It was really fun.

I got some little snaps too. That was the boys' favorite part.

Then we made some cookies. That was my favorite.

Anyway, happy new year!

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.

It was our 2nd annual nativity with cousins Jake and Allie. My boys were the 3 wise men and Jake and Allie were a little Mary and Joseph. Super cute. I love that we do this, it really helps bring the spirit into our home.

Kyle's favorite present, a general grievous light saber. Wow.

Blake's favorite, a star wars gun.

I got a blender that will just about take your arm off. Thankfully there are a dozen safety features on it. But it does sound like an industrial strength drill. I am excited to make smoothies with it.

Christmas day was beautiful, sunny! So we went outside to enjoy the new toys.

Hi smiley face!

Blake made this present for us at preschool. It was rudolph the red nose rootbeer. :)

Dallin enjoyed the crinkle of the wrapping paper and bows more than anything else.

My favorite present to the boys, I got each of the boys cute new towels. Dallin's is a puppy, Blake's a frog and Kyle's is a hippo. Love this picture.

We finished the weekend up in Star Valley and visited family. It was great, the kids had fun. Most importantly, I think they understand why we have Christmas. It is not all about the presents but the gift of our savior to each of us.

Merry Christmas!
